Craig Brown, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Craig Brown has dedicated his life's work to improving the quality of life for individuals and their families. He has nearly thirty years of experience treating and managing programs for eating disorders and has specialized in residential treatment of adolescent behavioral disorders. Dr. Brown firmly believes that treatment in a residential environment has the potential to effect both dramatic and enduring change in patients. Dr. Brown is an advocate of the family systems model of treatment; he considers the family an integral part of every treatment experience. Dr. Brown co-founded the Center for Discovery in 1997 and, as CEO, continues to work with staff to create residential treatment programs that help clients and their families along a journey of transformation. Dr. Brown received his Ph.D. from Memphis State University in 1986, and holds a license as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of California. He now sponsors five academic scholarship programs for the training of best-in-class clinicians at his alma mater.
Executive Vice President
Mark Hobbins is widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on adolescent treatment, parenting, and family issues. Mr. Hobbins has pursued his mission of strengthening families for over 25 years, co-founding one of the largest organizations of treatment programs for troubled youth and their families in the nation. He has authored and co-authored dozens of articles, courses and workbooks to help parents improve their parenting skills and strengthen their families. Mr. Hobbins also founded one of the nation’s leading online resources for parenting and relationship education. Mr. Hobbins has served as an expert consultant for numerous media organizations such as CBS, NBC, People Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times. Mr. Hobbins has also acted as a consultant and made appearances on several television shows including BRAT CAMP, Britain’s Youngest Boozers, A&E Intervention, Tyra Banks and Dr. Phil.
Robert G. Weitzman
Chief Financial Officer
Robert Weitzman has been a senior financial executive in the healthcare industry over the past twenty years for companies which experienced explosive growth during his tenure. Prior to his involvement in healthcare, Mr. Weitzman was in the financial services industry including being the CFO and COO of a national full service securities firm with over 200 branch offices. He is both a CPA and an attorney and serves as the CFO and General Counsel for Center for Discovery. In these capacities, he is responsible for the Accounting and Treasury Departments, the Business Office and the Legal Department. Mr. Weitzman graduated cum laude from Southwestern University School of Law. While in law school, he authored a personal property tax article which was cited by the United States Supreme Court and resulted in a sweeping change to personal property tax law nationwide.
Barbara Lucas, M.D.
Medical Doctor, Southern and Northern California
Dr. Lucas has been a member of the Center for Discovery’s treatment team since 2001. Dr. Lucas serves as a pediatrician specializing in eating disorders and clinical genetics. Following a chief residency at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), Dr. Lucas completed a fellowship in clinical genetics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She completed her undergraduate training at Brigham Young University, her medical school training at the University of Arkansas, and her residency at the University of California at Irvine, Long Beach Memorial and CHOC.
Brian Holt M.D., M.P.H.
Psychiatrist, Southern California
Dr. Holt has spent the last decade working with adolescents and their families in a variety of settings but his time at Center for Discovery, where he has worked since 2004, is especially important to him. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders and frequently lectures on these topics around the country. Dr. Holt earned his Bachelor’s degree at Miami University of Ohio and has a graduate degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan. He graduated from the St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of California at Los Angeles, which included specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Holt enjoys working closely with families and maintains a deep commitment to the unique family-oriented approach to the treatment of adolescents that is central to the mission of Center for Discovery.
Eduardo Añorga, M.D.
Medical Doctor, Southern California
Eduardo Añorga, M.D., graduated from the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine. He is board certified in Family Medicine and has received further training and certification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Añorga is on the faculty of the UCLA Department of Family Practice and has his private practice in Redondo Beach, California.
Director of Operations: Eating Disorders Division; Utilization Review Specialist
Jennifer Gorman has been specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and related issues since 1991. She received her education at the University of Arizona and the University of Phoenix, earning a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in 1993. Prior to joining the Center for Discovery team in 2002, she served as a Primary Therapist, Director of Outpatient Programs and Director of Family Therapy programs at two well-known treatment centers in Arizona. At Center for Discovery Ms. Gorman has been Program Director at both the Lakewood and Whittier facilities. In her current position she is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at all of Center for Discovery's eating disorders facilities, providing support and guidance to the treatment teams. She also provides training and supervision to all of the clinicians in the area of utilization review, which assures that Center for Discovery clients are able to receive payment from their insurance providers while they receive the care that they need.
Alexia Mowry, M.A.
Director of Clinical Outreach
Prior to joining the Center for Discovery team in 2007, Alexia Mowry worked for several years as an Account Executive and New Business Development specialist at a San Diego advertising agency. Her experience there included brand development, campaign management and execution, and creative strategy. Ms. Mowry taught Severely Emotionally Disturbed youth. This experience ignited her passion for providing support to families with children in need of mental health services. Ms. Mowry is an active member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), and is currently the CFO of the San Diego Chapter. Ms. Mowry earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in Political Science and English. She completed her Master’s degree at San Diego State University in Communications with an emphasis in Advertising and Media.
Special Projects Director
Abby has nine years of experience in the healthcare industry and has specialized in mental health for the past five years. As Special Projects Director at Center for Discovery, Ms. Jones is a member of the senior management team and is in charge of new business developments and oversees the openings of new facilities. Previously, Ms. Jones worked as a Facility Manager and Interim Program Director at Center for Discovery’s Lakewood Facility. She is also a certified Red Cross CPR/First Aid and Pro-ACT instructor. Ms. Jones graduated from Texas Tech University with a 4.0 GPA in Psychology. During her time at Texas Tech she worked full-time at Covenant Healthcare Systems. While at Tech, Ms. Jones also served as the President of the Women’s Volleyball team and National Medalist for the Horse Judging team.
